In this first-person mode, a purple ring will point to the object you are searching for. Your Wii remote will vibrate and you you will hear a pinging noise.
The vibration grows greater and the pinging noise will get louder as you look more in the direction of your objective. Also, a purple arrow will appear on the ring when you are looking in the right direction. And finally, the closer you get, the bigger the purple circle will become, and the pinging will intensify.
Choose the Zelda icon from the Dowsing menu and look around the area until you see the arrow pop up on the ring. Follow the arrow to get to your destination. The steam spouts in this area can be use to fly upwards. Just walk over them and your Sailcloth will lift you up.
Once you go through the door, you will be in a temple area. Inside this temple is a Bird Statue, off to the left, so make sure to save your game at it. Off to the right is a door, but you are not able to go through it just yet. Instead, look to the left, from the door, and you will spot a Chest with a Revitalizing Potion inside it. If you brought a Heart Potion before leaving the Bazaar at Skyloft, then you will now have two empty bottles that you can use if you use the potions.
*Side Note*: If you have both a Heart Potion and the Revitalizing Potion from the chest, then you might want to use the Heart Potion (even if it is for no reason). The reason for this is because on the opposite side of the stairs, next to the chest, one of the pots contains a Fairy in it that you can catch in an empty bottle.
Catching a Fairy will replenish six hearts, similar to the Heart Potion, which replenishes eight (but you only have six hearts right now anyway.) The only, and all that's needed, difference is that if you have the Fairy and run out of hearts, the Fairy will automatically revive you back to life.
Head up the stairs and you will encounter a mysterious old lady who will tell you that she has been waiting many years for your arrival and will also tell you that Zelda has headed to Faron Woods. She will then mark the location of Faron Woods on your map for you and tell you to place a beacon on the red X.
Head down the path and you will encounter Bokoblins harassing a Goron. Go over to them and fight the Bokoblins to rescue the Goron. Bokoblins defend in the position you move your sword to, so make sure to attack the moment they let their guard down to attack you. You can also use a Shield Bash to make them lower their guard (time it for when the Bokoblin attacks); but keep in mind that using your Shield without using a Shield Bash will cause it to lose durability with every hit.
After you defeat the Bokoblins, you will talk to the Goron. His name is Gorko, and he will tell you about the history of the Bird Statue. After he is done talking, the Bird Statue he is standing next to will begin to glow when you approach it. Here you can not only save, but travel back to the sky!
Head back through the hole in the wall and go through the open gate by Gorko and the Bird Statue. Push the log nearby to the cliff wall and climb up to proceed down the path.
