To see rival scenes, have the rival couple member of the SAME gender at 4 hearts or MORE, and the member of the OPPOSITE gender at LESS than 4 hearts, and walk into the designated place for the scene. (In this case, it's the Sanatorium.) However, unlike in some of the other Harvest Moon series games (ex: Tree of Tranquility, Animal Parade), rival couples in this game never develop their relationships into marriage. In the original Japanese version of Magical Melody, it was possible for rivals to marry - but in this release, nothing happens between the couples further than this single scene. So don't feel too threatened by rivals! Heh-heh, the ultimate most un-hinted flat-out "THIS COUPLE IS MEANT TO BE" scene. Isn't that sweet? (Except for all of you Kurt lovers around here. ^^; Sorry.)
